Pilates

We are happy to share our enthusiasm for the use of Pilates’ principles to address common physical therapy diagnoses such as difficulty walking, muscle weakness, posture and balance deficiencies.

Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in 1920’s and its benefits are acknowledged worldwide. Pilates exercises work as dynamic stabilization retraining that reconditions the body from the central core to:

  • Increase postural control and alignment

  • Increase strength

  • Improve balance reactions

  • Improve proprioception

  • Improve gait

  • Regain extensibility

  • Decrease over-active global muscles

  • Improving body awareness

  • Improve visual-spatial co-ordination.

We believe Pilates benefits everyone and is perfect for patients with musculoskeletal and neurological deficiencies.

We are a fully equipped Pilates facility, all exercises are performed with the appropriate Pilates equipment such as Pilates reformer, Pilates trapezius, Pilates chair, Pilates Barrel and props as necessary for each individual’s condition.  We provide patient-by-patient instructions to insure fluidity of movement and that the proper attention is paid to control and precision of movement so the correct muscles are isolated to properly improve function.
